Moso Bamboo is the primary species used for the manufacturing of flooring, which can grow up to 39 inches per day and 78 feet high in 1-2 months (depending on soil & moisture levels). It takes about 3–5 years for bamboo to reach full maturity as compared to traditional hard woods which take 20 – 120 years to mature. Bamboo also maintains its hardness (1400 Janka hardness test) & durability levels just like hardwood. In the past decade, the cosmetic advancements in Bamboo flooring have surpassed hardwood. You can now get Bamboo flooring stained & etched to view just like any hardwood species on the market. Anybody would be hard pressed to tell the difference between a Brazilian Cherry hardwood versus a Bamboo Brazilian Cherry. Pricing is also a major benefit. As low as 1/3 the price of traditional hardwood & tile flooring.
